Bodybuilding. It can get a pretty bad wrap from time to time, and often understandably so. It is a sport of extremes, filled with risk vs reward. Excessive training and calorie consumption coupled with rapid increases in body weight contribute to a successful off season, yet concerning health markers. High blood pressure, digestive complications & shortness of breath are common signs your off season is taking its toll.
With all extremes, those that partake are aware of the risk, but their desire for reward pulls them deeper into their pursuit of greatness. This blog post most certainly isn’t a dig at bodybuilders. I was once a devout bodybuilder, and for the large part loved my experience.
How would you describe your training and lifestyle?
Most that walk through the door of FF aren’t bodybuilders, but they are bodybuilding. I think it is really important to differentiate between the two. For years i was scared to embrace the term bodybuilding within FF for the fear of being demonised / judged for being a scary and intimidating gym.Â
Bodybuilding is beautiful & should be embraced. Being a bodybuilder can bring immense reward, but also immense risk and should be approached with deep consideration.Â
Lifestyle Choices
The lifestyle of a bodybuilder vs somebody bodybuilding can and should be somewhat different. However, like all things in life, a balance between the two is an awesome place to be.Â
