Controlled Aggression. It's Not What You Think.

Did you see our latest social media post? "Aggression in effort. Control in execution."
Maybe you thought, "sounds intense," or "sounds too complicated”.
It's not. It's for anyone who's ever stared at the bar, machine, db's for a heavy pb and thought "Can I?"

Let's break it down, without over complicating things.
What it IS: It's the switch you flip right before the lift. It's not being angry. It's deciding, absolutely, that you're moving the weight. That's the aggression. The "I will."
Then, you marry that to the form you've been practising. Brace, chest up, drive. That's the control part. The "I know how."
It's the difference between hoping the bar goes up and making it go up.
What it ISN'T: It's not throwing technique out the window. It's not a red-faced, grunting, ego-lift that ends with a slipped disc. That's just being a dickhead. We don't want that.
Why Bother? Because nice and easy only gets you so far. Eventually, to push past a plateau or nail a PB, you need a bit of bite. You need to tap into intent. Controlled aggression is how you do that without wrecking yourself.
How to Do It (Next Time You're In):
Before the Set: Stop. Breathe. Think of one simple, powerful cue for the lift. "Drive." "Push." "Up."
As You Step Up: Bring intent. It's not rage; it's readiness.
Execute: Let that aggressive intent fuel the movement but let your drilled technique guide it.
After: Let it go. Reset. The aggression is a tool, not a mood. Put it back in the box until you need it again.
Our Culture: This is why we're a strength gym in Heaton, not a clinical giant room filled with machines. At FF we believe a lot of your success is about your mindset. We've got the perfect gym floor where you can bring your intensity.
And if you're unsure about the line between aggressive intent and shit form? Ask. We're here to help you lift more and lift better.
The Bottom Line: Controlled aggression is your secret weapon. It's the spark to light your engine. Your technique, built rep by rep, is the engine.
Bring both.
